The goal of the project is to achieve food security and poverty reduction through enhanced utilization of agricultural knowledge and innovation.
The Objectives of the project include:
- To support the generation, dissemination and adoption of improved technologies for cassava production and processing.
- To developed and pilot test a set of integrated best -bet options for HQCF production and promote market access for secondary project.
- To developed and promote appropriate evidence- based models for sustainable value chain development for African agricultural commodities using HQCF production and processing as an example.
The project will have 5 major outputs with each output having specific activities needed for its realization.
Output 1: Analysis and synthesis of the structure and performance of Nigerian cassava sector, identification of interventions to improve the performance and vertically integrate the sector agents to market opportunities.
Output 2: Raise productivity through scaling- up and scaling-out of successful market- oriented HQCF production and processing innovation to transform the value chain from adhoc business to full commercial.
Output 3: Support application and adaptation of proofed commercially successful market oriented HQCF processing and quality management innovation to ensure quality product as per market requirements.
Output 4: Develop effective marketing strategy and institutional mechanism for durable HQCF and product marketing and appropriate policy framework to transform the Nigerian cassava sector.
Output 5: I identify characterize and measure the impact of the evolving scale based mode of intensified production processing marketing and institutional innovations which underpin the most durable and equitable market integration of cassava producers processors and traders.
